Moskvich League

Moskvich League's creator Jüri Roost

What is Moskvich League (or Moskvich Liiga as it's known in Estonian)? It is basically a special every man's rally and rallysprint class for rear wheel drive Moskvich and Izh cars.

Since every man's level racing has become so popular in Estonia the cost of competing has also gone up and this has created a need for a not-so-expensive class. And what can be cheaper than an old Moskvich? But don't think that cheap means boring. Far from it! Behind the wheel or from a spectators point of view - Moskvich cars are fun!

Moskvich League has it's own extra set of rules inside the every man's rally and rallysprint rules. The most important note is that we use "stock" cars - only very minor changes are allowed. This keeps the costs down and makes for more equal racing. We also limit the cars to just rear wheel drive versions, so if you have a front or a four-wheel-drive car - sorry.

a Mosse knows how to fly!

2003 was our first year of racing and it turned out to be a huge success. At the first race we only had four competitors, but by the last race of the season there were more then 50 people at the start line! And on many occasions we made headlines in TV, magazines and newspapers. Years 2004 and 2005 were even better with an evergrowing number of competitors and fans. And we're still going strong in 2006!

Thanks to all this Moskvich has turned from a car-world outcast into a major star. It's really nice to see these old kooky machines get a second chance. If you would like to know more or just have a few comments then please send us an e-mail.
